The Nets front office would like to make Ellis the face of the franchise. He will be the starting shooting guard for the foreseeable future.
His 2007/2008 contract of $770,610 was an injustice the Nets would like to rectify by offering...
27 million for 5 years
Year 1: 7,000,000 Year 2: 6,000,000 Year 3: 5,500,000 Year 4: 4,500,000 Year 5: 4,000,000
Total Team Salaries 2008/2009: $35,976,997 (with Ellis...42,976,997)

Since Monta's rating will be going up to say, 81ish he will be expecting 81sh money. My client would like to get paid Ben Gordon dollars. The neighborhood of what he is looking for is 4 years - 40 million.
Also, the max you can offer in an extension is 4 years. Get back to us.

I've love to give him 81sh money but he isn't an 81 yet. He had one good year (for us) and we greatly appreciate it. He'll easily be the highest paid player on the team and the face of the franchise. We don't want to overpay and not be able to surround Monta with a team that will enable to become an all-time great. The highest we'll go is...
36.5 million for 4 years
Year 1: $10,000,000 Year 2: $9,500,000 Year 3: $9,000,000 Year 4: $8,000,000
Total Team Salaries 2008/2009: $35,976,997 (with Ellis...45,976,997)

We understand that he isn't an 81 yet, but to my clients knowledge he will be once the ratings get updated. You have met me half way and you essentially traded away all your stars so that Monta can be the main attraction on your team.
We will accept. Update your salary chart ASAP
