Pat Quinn Press Conference I'd like to thank everyone for coming out to Miami today, per request of Phoenix (the commish) the Miami Heat have taken an assistant GM. A very familiar face, he just stepped down as the Sacramento Kings GM and is best known for winning the championship last year as GM of the Toronto Raptors. Good friend of mine, actually gave me my first job in the league as rumor reporter. Funny to have him working for me now , thought it is an honor to have him on our staff. He is a legend and we look forward to having him on our staff for the last two days before the trade deadline! I gave him a speical assignment for the last two days of trading. I feel like he can get this trade I want done better than I can, I mean I am here if he needs me but there a GM I am having problems talking to and he knows him. We hope he can do this for us and look forward to having him on the staff, I'll let him say what he needs to say and any questions for me or him are welcomed!

Miami Herald Reporter:
You must be honored that Pat has stepped down from his duties as Kings GM to join your staff. When did negotiations start between the two parties?

Miami Herald Reporter: You must be honored that Pat has stepped down from his duties as Kings GM to join your staff. When did negotiations start between the two parties? Well Pat wanted to be on a winning team and not go through the rebuilding effort in Sactown. He called us and when we told him our needs he said he could help us. We expect him to find a team to GM next year but we are very happy to have him here with us. Per NBA Rules we can not disclose his contract nor can mine disclosed (though I'm getting a raise, I have as many wins as Miami did last year! )

How far do you see this team making it this year, and who will be your biggest stumbling blocks in accomplishing the ultimate goal: a NBA World Champoinship?

How far do you see this team making it this year, and who will be your biggest stumbling blocks in accomplishing the ultimate goal: a NBA World Champoinship? I think as long as we stay healthy and play, The Miami Heat will be the 2008 Rim Rocker Eastern Conference Champions. Not to say teams like Charlotte, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and others won't challenge but I think we are the best team in the East by a bit. You look in the West, obviously Phoenix is the favorite but there are some other good teams. The Dallas Mavericks with Dirk at SF are a mismatch nightmare and I could see them beating the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, or anyone else in the playoffs. I also think the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Minnesota Timber wolves has a lot of potennial. If I'm a betting man I think one of the three of Dallas, Phoenix, and Miami will win the title, but my answer to the question has to be the Phoenix Suns.
