Today the league office made official the trade between the LA Clippers and Miami Heat that sent Smush Parker to South Beach for Atlanta's 2010 1st Rounder, Malik Hariston, Gordan Giricek, and Marc Jackson. Well today we are reporting Smush Parker maybe heading to San Antonio in what reported to be a 3 team, 12 player, and 1 pick trade. Details are sketchy but right now we think the Spurs would receive Smush Parker, Big Z, and Allen Iverson. The Raptors would receive a 2010 1st, Stephon Marbury, and Mike Miller, and the Heat would receive Jason Kidd and Desmond Mason. There is some salary stuff that has to be worked out, and reportedly the Spurs want to get rid of Dampier but nothing is confirmed at this point.
Jason Kidd just grinned at the prospect of going to Miami and playing with the front court of Lebron James, Pau Gasol, and Marcus Camby. "If it happens Boston better put there jock straps on" Kidd said laughing when asked about it again." Kidd was unhappy after being traded to the Spurs last offseason and would love nothing more than to show the Celtics they made a mistake. His best chance to do that is to go to Heat, who are just a game ahead of the Celtics for the Eastern Conference lead right now. GM Charles Boen usually talks to the press but about this all he could say was "I'm trying to get better."
The Spurs would also get a lot better, there New GM has been trying to do that since taking over and this would be one of the best ways to trade Kidd. Fill your hole at center, bring one of the games best scorers into San Antonio, and get a PG like Parker to compliment him. When asked about the prospect of going to San Antonio, Iverson said "It's bitter sweet, to start this season I would have loved it and I'm still excited but man we are making progress here in Toronto." The Raptors currently are the 8th seed in the East.
The Raptors GM refused to comment but obviously this is just another move to help him rebulid. Miller, the 2010 1st, and whatever other pieces they get out of it are to help the cause in the future. Stephon Marbury is a really nice part of the deal because thats pure dead money, you don't have to detail with the dilemma "do I resign AI?" Starbury is done after this year and it appears the Raptors have a bright future ahead of them. If this goes down, two teams get a lot better now and one a lot better in the future.
