Washington D.C. - The Washington Wizards have been looking to deal for a starting shooting guard to compete along side arguably the best Point guard in the game in Gilbert Arenas. Since the deal with the Bucks, the Wizards GM, Brad Jasper, has not found any options available. He stands determined to find one before the season. "It's a difficult situation with the players we've got to deal. Darrel Arthur and Hakim Warrick seem to be pretty much untouchable in a deal such as this and we're really looking to pick up an expiring contract." If Washington can find the lights out shooter that they're looking for at the two, this team could be a surprise fit in the division. They have high hopes of making the playoffs after having dealt their pick to the Bobcats in exchange for Adam Morrison and Chris Webber. Many looked at this move as dangerous, but with the recent acquisition of Gilbert Arenas, things are looking back up for Washington. Stay tuned for more, this is Stuart Scott reporting for ESPN News.

Washington D.C. - Rumors out of Washington have them parting ways with Etan Thomas. Etan Thomas has been a big problem as of late with the recent loss in playing time and his realizing that he will not get time over Hakim Warrick, Darrel Arthur and Anderson Varajeo. He has skipped many voluntary workouts and for his contract, Washington has agreed to buy him out and save up some more money going into the 2008 season. This move leaves the Wizards with a starting lineup of the such: C: Andris Biedrins PF: Chris Webber SF: Mikael Pietrus SG: Adam Morrison PG: Gilbert Arenas 6th man: Rookie DARRELL ARRRTHURR!

January 20, 2009:
(AP): The Washington Wizards are riding a hot streak of a impressive 6 game winning streak vaulting them into the five seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs, however; that does not mean that the Wizards are standing still in the trading world. The Wizards are attempting the move the contract of Cuttino Mobley for an equally rated Small Forward so that the bench is solidified by Matt Barnes. Barnes has been a very sufficient starter for the Wizards but that does not mean that he is set in stone. GM Brad Jasper recently stated that the Wizards were looking to move Raymond Felton in the right deal as well, " Felton is expiring this year and we're a little bit worried about resigning him. OJ Mayo is one of the players that we're trying to make a run at but New Jersey is in rebuild mode and Mayo has been excellent for them. He's in the running for Rookie of the Year with our own Kevin Love." Love has been outstanding at a position he was deemed too small to play by many scouts. He's second in Rookie of the Year voting and has been playing extremely well since his return to Washington. "Love has been one of our best players this season. Michael Redd has the kid in tune in his first year." Speaking of Redd, he's been second in scoring for the Majority of the year and has led the Wizards to their very impressive record at 22-16. The Wizards were not expected to go far in the eastern conference this season but have shocked a few people on their way to a playoff berth to this point in the season. One saddening addition to the Wizards has been the play of Mobley and usual defensive stud Andrei Kirlienko. AK47, as they call him in Washington, has been one of the most disappointing players on the roster averaging around 12 points a game and 6 boards since his arrival in the Nation's capital. Look for the Wizards to move Kirilenko for a perennial all star. This has been one hell of a start to a season and with the All Star game coming up look for Michael Redd and Kevin Love to represent the Wizards at the festivities whether it be in the Rookie/Sophmore game or the All Star Game itself.
This has been Brad Jasper(I have many jobs!) reporting for The Associated Press.

Yo holla Wizards this is yo boy Stephen A. Grats on staying a float but can you tell how you feel about this division, it's wack. Right now the Southeast has the 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 seeds, do you feel pressure to trade someone like AK47 to try to get better? Do you really think all 5 teams can make the playoffs?

The southeast is a tough division. It'll be a fight until the end of the year. This is the best division in basketball, and I'm sure that if a deal involving AK would come up I'd deal him for a better player. I'd package any of my bench players and future firsts for him. I'm disappointed that I'm left with one first left in 2010. I'd be willing to package AK and that first with Cuttino Mobley for a huge contract and another player that would be serviceable.
