The Dallas Mavericks would like to offer Gilbert Arenas a 6 year $92,000,000 deal
Year 1- $10,000,000 Year 2- $13,000,000 Year 3- $14,000,000 Year 4- $17,000,000 (Player Option) Year 5- $18,000,000 Year 6- $20,000,000
Team Salary per year without Arenas, with all options picked up 2009- $58,171,886 2010- $54,929,013 2011- $27,317,735
The Dallas Mavericks would love for Gilbert Arenas to join this franchise and play alongside Manu Ginobili, Dirk Nowitzki, and Carmelo Anthony. At this point in Gilberts career, we know that he wants a championship and thats what we want as well. We have built a great team for Gilbert to step into.
Gilbert will be the starting point guard and floor general of this team. We know that he is the final piece to the puzzle that will bring a championship back to Dallas. This GM is committed to winning and has been oh so close to doing so. The Mavericks reached the finals two seasons ago, and went deep into the playoffs last year. We have heard Gilberts want to play for a contender and if he comes to Dallas, he will be a strong contender. We see that the West is the place to be for Gilbert. The Mavericks are the team to beat in the Southwest Division, which should propel them into a high berth for the playoffs.
This GM sees that with Gilbert Arenas, this team will be one of the best, if not the best , teams in the league. We want him to be our floor general and in return we will give him the chance to win his championship in the years to come. The team is ecstatic to have the opportunity to have a guy with the caliber of talent as Gilbert does to lead them into the playoffs and get a championship for the city of Dallas.
We look forward to hearing from you Gilbert!

The Toronto Raptors would like to offer Gilbert Arenas a 6 year deal worth $95 million.
Year 1- $14,000,000 Year 2- $14,000,000 Year 3- $16,000,000 Year 4- $16,000,000 Year 5- $17,000,000 Year 6- $18,000,000
Team Salary per year without Arenas, with all options picked up and without rookie salaries. 2009- $40,079,286 2010- $15,690,800 2011- $7,490,800
We fill that Gilbert is the final piece that this team is missing. If he were to sign with us he would be paired with Andrea Bargnani, Anthony Randolph, DeAndre Jordan and pending trade approval Carlos Boozer. Their is no question that if he chooses to sign with us he will be the starting point guard from day one. I know we might not have the big name stars that some other teams have but we fell that is a benefit as it will be less egos demanding the ball and letting Gilbert dominate the ball more. Also we fell with him this is a team that can win now and still has room to develop and improve to have a very large window of winning a Championship. Also we are including a player option in the 3rd year so if Gilbert feels the team hasn't lived up to expectations he can opt out.

The Nets would like to offer Mr. Arenas the starting point guard job and...
09/10: $13,000,000 10/11: $14,000,000 11/12: $15,000,000 12/13: $16,000,000 (player option) 13/14: $16,500,000 (team option) 14/15: $17,500,000 (team option)
6 years / $92,000,000
This franchise needs a starting point guard and Arenas is that player. He should fit nicely with Mayo and Griffin. Arenas' presence will allow this team to actually challenge for a playoff spot this year and with a few more additions (starting center, small forward) this team will be one of the best in the East. The coaching staff knows Arenas loves to freestyle at times and the coaching staff will be 100% behind Arenas and what he does on the floor.
Team Salaries Before Arenas (including all options and recent draft picks): 09/10: $54,837,681 10/11: $52,750,446 11/12: $49,716,720 12/13: $37,266,160 13/14: $8,000,000 14/15: $0
**Note: Granger is the priority with Arenas #2 on the list** ** List: Danny Granger, Gilbert Arenas, Elton Brand***

Total: $105,000,000
2009/2010: $64,327,208 2010/2011: $44,115,586 2011/2012: $34,035,586 2012/2013: $23,000,000 2013/2014: $25,000,000
Priority Arenas Granger
Gilbert is our first priority this off-season. He would be the player we build around for the next while. Our biggest weakness last season was a lack of a PG and if Gilbert signs it will be our biggest strength. We may not be a potential contender like Dallas but we offer much more money and much more touches on offence. Dallas has Melo, Gino, Dirk, Lopez who all need touches whereas on our team, you'd be the #1 option.

We have been looking over the offers, and we have some questions and some decisions made below.
Dallas - We like your team and think you are already a championship contender. However, Mr. Arenas really likes to dominate the ball and wishes to be the clear leader of his team. While he does want to win a championship, he is admittedly pretty selfish. He wants to be the reason his team competes and possibly wins a championship. In Dallas there is already Dirk and Carmelo as two superstars who both need the ball a lot. While money is not everything, it is something. Gilbert wants to be paid and to have the opportunity to perform like the superstar he is, not a 3rd option/solid player.
At the very least, if you would like to stay in contention for Mr. Arenas' services, you need to up the money significantly in years 2-6, and we would also like a player option in at least year 4 specifically.
Toronto - We like the move you made to get Carlos Boozer this offseason. We also like Bargnani, Anthony Randolph, DeAndre Jordan, and Tywon Lawson as young players that give your team a great future. On the Raptors, Gilbert could definitely be the main man and dominate the offense, and feed the ball to Boozer as a great 2nd option. Bargnani and Randolph and Jordan are a great frontcourt as well, and we think we could be successful with this type of team. However, if you were to gain Mr. Arenas' services, do you have any plans at the SG position? You have 3 or 4 backup-quality SG's, but we really don't see a very legitimate starting SG.
We appreciate the overall money, and the player option in year 3. We ask that there be another player option in year 4, but would give you the option of putting a team option in year 5 or 6. This does not mean we will sign with you for sure, but that is our request on your offer for now.
New Jersey - We also like that you have other stars/future stars on your team in O.J. Mayo and Blake Griffin. Batum, Wright, and Foye are all solid players to build around and keep on the team long-term. We are wondering how dedicated you are to winning this season. If Gilbert chose to sign with you, would you go and put Pietrus in the starting SF spot over Batum, thus gaining another 3 rating points in the starting lineup? Also, while we love Blake Griffin as a low post offensive threat, do you have any plans to fill your Center position longterm? Gilbert will take a lot of shots, so a good frontcourt is necessary to clean up the rebounds from the shots Gilbert misses.
Milwaukee - We appreciate the money you put on the table. However, we are not in love with your team set up. We think Hibbert is a very good young big man, but he does not fit with Arenas' style of play. Also, we don't think Gilbert will play well with Stephen Jackson and Jamal Crawford. Both of those players need the ball in their hands to be effective, and since Gilbert really wants to dominate the ball and be on a likely playoff team at the same time, Milwaukee looks like the worst fit to this point. Unless there is some other FA signing likely that changes the feel of this team, or a trade is made in the next couple of days, Milwaukee is out of the running.
New York - Gilbert is intrigued by the possibility of playing with Kevin Durant, who we view as a top-10 type player in the league. Our concern is that both players need the ball in their hands consistently to be effective. Gilbert really wants to be the go-to guy, and feels that he needs another great Post player on his team to be really effective. Do you have any plans at PF/C longterm? We don't really like Varejao as a long-term option, and while Boris Diaw is very versatile, he isn't exactly a stud/clean up the boards type of inside player. You are probably in the bottom 2 with Milwaukee for Gilbert's services right now based on team set up, among other factors.
Orlando - We think we could fit in OK in Orlando. Dwight is a star on the inside and doesn't really need the ball in his hands to be effective. We like that. However, JRich needs the ball a decent amount, as do JRich and Rudy Gay. We mainly wonder what your vision is for this team? You already have TJ Ford who seems like a great fit for your team. We wonder what you will do next year when Hedo, Ford, and Gay all expire? You would already have 50 million wrapped up in howard/jrich/arenas and have virtually nothing else on your team. Who do you want to resign? Do you have a plan to get a bench? Just what is your vision for the future of this team overall?
Once we hear back from these teams we will make some cuts and narrow things down. Please respond ASAP, as we would like this to get done as quickly as possible.
Thank you.

You are right to assume Pietrus would start at SF as the roster currently stands and we are going after a starting center (Jermaine O'Neal) to pair with Arenas to fill out the starting rotation. We also feel that Arenas signing would not only make our team better but our bid for O'Neal that much stronger. The playoffs would be within reach with Arenas and an almost certainly with Arenas and O'Neal. A couple of other players are also being targeted that would improve the bench and especially the front court. If your client has any more question let me know.

The Sixers would like to know if they are still eligible to make an offer for Agent Zero. We are willing to offer the max we can afford. We understand that the first year offer is a tad too low but we are offering a compromise- adding player options in case Mr Arenas decides he does not like Philadelphia anymore. What we can offer is Mr Arenas can have the ball in his hand for as long as he wants because both Andre Iguodala and Russell Westbrook (the closest we have to a ball hog) can play off the ball really well, which should enable Agent Zero to rake up a few assists as well.
Here is our offer: $99,000,000 over 6 years
Year 1: $9,000,000 Year 2: $12,000,000 Year 3: $15,000,000 (PO) Year 4: $18,000,000 Year 5: $21,000,000(PO) Year 6: $24,000,000
Team Salary: 2009-10 - $59,419,440 2010-11 - $23,286,303 2011-12 - $4,000,000 2012-13 - $3,000,000
edit: We would like to make it know that if Arenas signs for us we would retract all other FA offers.

I would definitely add another player option to improve my chances at getting Gilbert. We might not have a star SG at the moment but we feel that what we do have is good enough, their players that can hit open shots (Kapono is one of the better 3pt shooters in the league) and none of them need to dominate the ball to succeed. Also we believe we already have our future SG in Jrue Holiday.

First off we APOLOGIZE once again for sending an offer this late to the PA and to Mr. Arenas, as I have said before we are trying to get help for Mr. Arenas so he stay's with the Lakers.
We want Mr. Arenas back in LA, our fans love him, he is a great player and he would be the leader of our team along with the help he will receive from Ron Artest, who we also plan to sign to help out Mr. Arenas as well as sign Stephen Curry from the draft.
He would have the team he likes that can compete in the big stage and win a NBA championship.
we would have a strong starting line-up with PG Arenas SG Curry SF Artest PF Horford C Bynum
and then we would also have a GREAT bench with Farmer, Thabeet, Collison, C. Lee, Harpring, Pachulia, J. Jeffries, R. Turiaf, L. Williams and S. Vujacic all who can step up when the help is needed.
Once again we want Mr. Arenas on our team badly, and we will offer him more money if Mr. Arenas prefers to have more money, and we will continuously plan on creating a great team every year that is loaded and will always have a chance to win the world championship.

Ok, time to make some cuts, and get this figured out soon.
Milwaukee - We appreciate the money and the interest, but there are other similar-ish teams that we like more, and that have a better chance at competing. We are sorry, but you are out of the running for Mr. Arenas' services.
Dallas - This is really tough. You obviously have a great team. However, somewhat like Miami and the Granger situation, it works against you here. Gilbert just doesn't see how he can play the way he wants to play on your team with all that other talent. Gilbert is 27 right now, so even with a 5 or 6 year contract, he will still be a good player at the end of that contract, and can then sign on as more of a complementary player and sign with a team that is a clear contender even without him. Right now though, he wants to play in his prime as "the man", not as the 3rd or even 4th best player (according to ratings) on the team. Thank you very much for the increased offer and the great interest in him, but this just isn't the fit for Gilbert right now. Good luck on your other pursuits.
Orlando - This is another tough one. You can pretty much read the thing I wrote to Dallas above and just apply it to you. Also, you already have a very capable PG on your roster. I know you plan on moving him with another player to upgrade somewhere else, but we have to look at what your team is right now. The best laid plans do not always come to fruition, so we want to go to a team that has a clear need at PG AND a place that Gilbert will be the clear #1. He'd most likely be the #1 guy down in Orlando, at least in ppg, but he wouldn't really be the leader. Dwight is a great personality and if the team ever won a chip, credit would likely go to Dwight and the rest of that great supporting cast. Just not enough touches to go around in our opinion. Thank you very much for your interest, but it just is not the fit we are looking for right now. Good luck with the rest of your bidding.
We will finish this up tonight, but I wanted to get these teams out of the running ASAP so they can start looking elsewhere. Thank you again to the teams who unfortunately lost out on Gilbert's services this offseason. The winner will be named later tonight (hopefully in the next hour).

Toronto - As we mentioned, we like the youth on your team. We also like possibly playing with Boozer. However, no real starting-caliber SG on the team right now does hurt you. Also, we feel other teams in the running for Gilberts' services have just a little more going for them. Gilbert wants skilled big man/men to play with, and while Boozer is good, Bynum/Horford from LAL are very good, and so is Griffin in NJ. Plus, NJ has a great young SG in Mayo, and LAL has a probable good young SG in Stephen Curry. NYK also have Yao Ming, plus Iggy and Westbrook.
So basically, while we think we would fit in well in Toronto, we feel we would fit in better in other places. Thank you for the bid and the willingness to modify your offer, but you are out of the running. Happy bidding.
So now we are down to the Lakers, Sixers, Nets, and Knicks.
New Jersey: Positives - Griffin and Mayo are around for awhile and look like great young players. Lots of other young talent that should be able to be kept around for awhile as a great bench/fill out the starting lineup. Negatives - Really need another good player in the frontcourt, preferably a true Center, as Griffin is a pure PF. Bonzi Wells, Kurt Thomas, and Marcus Banks have fairly bad contracts, and are eating up about 15 mil in cap space this year, plus almost 17 mil next year. They could be moved, but there are no guarantees. This mainly just limits the other help the team can bring in. Not really a great location to play in.
Philadelphia: Positives - Great players in Iggy and Yao, solid guy in Dalembert (twin towers type thing with yao?), Westbrook is a really promising young player and is versatile enough that he COULD play SG. Sessions looks like a good future PG also. Negatives - While these players are good, we think yao might be slightly too good to work really well with Arenas, and just think that the two (yao and arenas) would not work well as far as style of play. This city can be tough to play in as well.
LA Lakers: Positives - Bynum and Horford are a pretty ideal duo of front-court bodies to play with Arenas. They can clean up the boards, and they can be more of complimentary type players while Arenas is there, to let him dominate the ball. Stephen Curry looks like he will be a fun player to play with as well. The bright lights of Los Angeles are an attractive piece as well, and Gilbert definitely sees the opportunity to lead a contending team pretty far. Also has a deep bench. Has another 15 million in cap next season coming free, plus another 12+ million this season. Negatives - The SF position is a bit up in the air, BUT Courtney Lee can fill that hole, and do it pretty well. Or, there is another 12 million in cap space floating around to fill this need.
NY Knicks: Positives - Kevin Durant is a stud in this league. The signing of Elton Brand helps to shore up that position down low, but (this is a negative really) to be honest we're not convinced he is a very "long-term" type of answer there either. He is struggling mightily IRL and we're not that confident in him. Has another 15-16 mil of space coming available next year, plus a couple more million this season. Diaw is a versatile player, though he makes a bit much right now. New York is a great city to play basketball of course. Negatives - Varejao and Keyon Dooling are a bit overpaid, and will take up valuable cap space while not being all that good. Certainly not as good as the money they are making/will make. That money could be used for different/better players.
Final Decision! Philly - We just do not think Gilbert and Yao will work that well, plus some other factors, so you are eliminated. Thank you for the bids, and good luck with your bidding.
Knicks - We don't think Brand is going to hold up very long, and that team is Kevin Durant's. Gilbert wants to be the man on his team, not 2nd fiddle, especially not 2nd to a SG/SF type who needs the ball in his hands to score (as opposed to a PF/C who might need the ball less to be efficient). It is tough to say no to the city of New York, but the fit is just not right, right now. Thank you, and good luck bidding.
Lakers - You have won the rights to Gilbert Arenas! You have what we are looking for with a great city, the chance to be the clear-cut main scoring option and leader of the team, TWO(!!!!!) great, and young, big men, an exciting rookie in Stephen Curry, a young, deep, solid bench, and a good salary situation all-around. You've also shown an ability to draft fairly well, so the bench and possible other starting positions should be pretty good for a while. We also very much appreciated the player options.
Nets - You were a close 2nd, but again we had to go with what you have on your team now, not what you might get IF Arenas signed. We also think O.J. Mayo and Blake Griffin make a really powerful and young duo, that will probably become the face of your franchise, even if Arenas was there. Thank you for the offer, and happy bidding.
Lakers, this is the contract that Gilbert will sign (this is for the good of the league a bit, I'm just bringing it down to earth slightly [you had overbid everyone except Orlando by a good 15 million]).
6 years, total salary - $104,000,000
year 1: $15,000,000 year 2: $17,000,000 year 3: $18,000,000 (PO) year 4: $18,000,000 (PO) year 5: $18,000,000 year 6: $18,000,000 (PO)
Congratulations Los Angeles Lakers on re-signing your star Gilbert Arenas!
