Lamar Odom on his way out of NY?
Odom is excited about the news he might be dealt from the 8-20 Knicks.
June 20th-
The Knicks have had talks with several teams about a possible Lamar Odom deal, but nothing seems imminent. They have been close to a deal with a few different teams, however those talks fell apart for different reasons. The talks seems to be frustrating to Odom. "I just want this over with. If it means I stay a Knick for the remainder of the season fine, if not, fine. I just want this issue resolved one way or another". When asked about Odom's situation the Knicks GM responded "Lamar Odom is a very talented and versatile player who can score, rebound, and pass. We would like for him to remain in New York, however we will always keep our options open on how to make the team better, if trading Odom will make us a better team then that is what we will do. If we can't find a deal that we like, we are also content to keep the team as is going into the off-season where we will be able to improve through FA and the draft". The longer this plays out the less likely it is Odom will be dealt, but as it is with most trades things can change very quickly.
Odom to Seattle?
June 21st-
Word out of New York is the Knicks and Sonics earlier today agreed to a deal that would have sent Kevin Durant and Charlie Villanueva to New York for Lamar Odom, Renaldo Balkman, 2009 1st round pick, and the Knicks 2010 1st round pick. This deal doesn't work salary wise as the Sonics would be taking on to much salary. The two teams are currently trying to fix this trade to make it work. Meanwhile the Wizards have also entered the picture to acquire Lamar Odom. They have sent an offer that have the Knicks receiving a couple 1st round picks along with G/F Stephen Jackson and center Big Z. The Wizards would be getting Lamar Odom along with recently acquired Boris Diaw. When asked about which deal the Knicks were leaning towards their GM responded "Right now we are closer to a deal with Seattle, with the only hurdle being salaries. With the Washington deal we still aren't certain about the players who would be involved". The talks are getting interesting and it would appear that Odom has played his last game in New York. The only question now, where will he play his next game?
Knicks make 1 trade and close in on another
July 6th-
The Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies agreed to a deal that sent Eddy Curry, Dequan Cook, and Aaron Brooks to Memphis and Shane Battier, Keyon Dooling, and Acie Law IV to New York. When asked about the deal the Knicks GM said that "We needed to improve our defense and we feel that Battier gives us a great perimeter defender. Also Law and Dooling will be nice additions to our bench". However it appears that Laws stay in New York will be short lived. Rumors are that the Knicks and Heat are close to a deal that would send Law, Quentin Richardson, and the Knicks 2010 1st round pick to Miami in exchange for center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and the Atlanta Hawks 2010 1st round pick. The trade is said to be in the hands of the Miami Heat who are weighing their options for the moment. Stay tuned.
