Though the Warriors' offer is better, Matt would rather have a chance to win a championship, and he feels going to Boston will give him a better chance. And he gets a chance to come off the bench nicely to complement the starters.
Update your charts ASAP. It's your 5.25mil per year offer btw.

We'll put him back in the pool. You are now one bid for him, the agent will decide if there should be some more time to field offers or to take your offer.

The Miami Heat will like to offer Matt Barnes a 6 Year Deal worth $21,750,000 with player options on every year.
Year 1: $3,000,000 (MLE) Year 2: $3,250,000 (PO) Year 3: $3,500,000 (PO) Year 4: $3,750,000 (PO) Year 5: $4,000,000 (PO) Year 6: $4,250,000 (PO)
Total: $21,750,000
We feel as though if Matt Signs with us he is going to a contending team and we promise to start him at the 2 guard. Which means either we will trade Granger for a big man or go Rondo/Barnes/Granger/Melo/Amare. That would sure be a floor show if you ask me and with Matt the chances of us winning a title are very high. You would be our #1 priority, you also have control over your contract. We offer you a player option from Year 2 to Year 6 so you can decide if you want out or not. I think is a very good deal for your client and I hope he comes to Miami! : )
Priority List: 1. Matt Barnes 2. Trevor Ariza 3. Maurice Evans

We just traded Danny Granger and brought in CV31, we hope Mr. Barnes is aware of this fact and will still sign with the Miami Heat. We value him greatly and would love for him to start at the SG with Rondo/Barnes/Melo/CV31/Amare.

I had a priority list that I guess Philly just didn't see but I don't recognize the signing of Maurice Evans until I know what happens with Barnes. So I guess if I have to I withdraw my offer on Maurice Evans, even though I had a list.
