"The soft cap is set at $65m (now 67 m). After this you're options become limited... Secondly, you can only sign free agents using an exception. You can sign rookies with the rookie exception, and other players to the $1m league minimum, or use one of your exceptions. You also have a mid level exception (MLE) worth $5m which you can use. We aren't using Bi-annual and low level exceptions." rimrocker13.proboards42.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=1198966863

The Orlando Magic would like to offer Smith a 3 year deal worth $47,000,000.
year 1: $15,000,000
year 2: $17,000,000 (Player Option)
year 3: $15,000,000
Smith would be a great asset to the team. He will be the starting SF or PF with the Rookie of the Year, Al Horford, Tony Parker, Ben Gordon, and Hedo Turkgolu. We believe with Smith, we will be a playoff contender team and go far in the playoffs.

The Indiana Pacers would like to offer Josh Smith a guaranteed 3 year deal worth $49,500,000.
Year 1 - $15,000,000 Year 2 - $16,500,000 Year 3 - $18,000,000
Josh would step in and be our starting Small Forward immediately. We have plans on trading Danny Granger possibly for a center which would allow for Smith to play his natural position of SF. Even if Granger is not traded Smith will still start at SF and Granger would play the 2. We feel with the amount of talent we have Smith could put us over the top and help get us in the playoffs. Smith would join the likes of Antawn Jamison, Danny Granger, Nicolas Batum, Randy Foye, Corey Brewer, and Jamaal Tinsley. Smith would be one of the cornerstones of our Franchise!

76ers offer: Year 1 - $15,500,000 Year 2 - $16,500,000 Year 3 - $18,000,000
50mil total for the 3 years.
J-Smoove would be playing next to Eric Gordon and Iggy or possibly Gasol. We need him for his defense and athletic ability. We would like him to help establish a playoff team this coming season.

WOW...thats because of this stupid "only sign for maximum 3 years" rule
this contract is totally unrealistic.
in the NBA you can resign your own FAs to 6 year contracts and FAs from other teams to 5 years!
besides that in the NBA the maximum after the rookie contract is around 12 mills in year 1...
